Recipe for Caramel Chocolate Walnut Cake
Ingredients:
For the base:
200g crushed chocolate biscuits
100g melted butter
For the filling:
1 can sweetened condensed milk (400g)
200g chocolate (milk or dark, chopped)
100g chopped walnuts
1/2 cup heavy cream
For the topping:
200g chocolate (melted)
Whipped caramel frosting (optional, for decoration)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the base:
Mix the crushed chocolate biscuits with the melted butter.
Press the mixture into the bottom of a springform pan to create the base.
Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
2. Prepare the filling:
In a saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped chocolate until fully melted and smooth.
Add in the heavy cream and stir to combine.
Fold in the chopped walnuts evenly throughout the mixture.
Pour the filling over the chilled biscuit base and smooth the surface.
Place the cake back in the fridge to set for 2-3 hours.
3. Prepare the topping:
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Pour the melted chocolate over the set filling and smooth it out using a spatula.
Decorate the top with whipped caramel frosting if desired.
4. Chill and serve:
Chill the cake for an additional hour before serving to allow all the layers to firm up.
